Do you feel: Tired? Drained? Sluggish? Often, we are too busy meeting a work deadline or managing ‘life admin’ to even begin to think about ourselves. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day and trying to keep everyone happy. But like all those people you care about and the things you do, your energy, especially your emotional reserves, require some dedicated time to keep you in good shape, nourished and feeling well.

Setting time aside, no matter how little, is great for boosting your mental health, your capacity to do your do and feel physically well. Think about plants, they need water, light and space to grow well, if one of these elements is missing the plant doesn’t thrive. In this regard we are just like plants, don’t you think?

So here are some questions to ask yourself about how you use your time to create options that give you ‘water, growing space and some light’, followed by some suggestions;

  • What activities can I let go of in order that I might create time for myself?
  • Which people in my life can I ask for help and support?
  • What habits are unhelpful to my health and wellbeing?
